As part of the course "Design and Identity" at the HTW Dresden, I spent an entire semester dealing with the question of identity creation in the context of design. At the beginning of the semester, we were assigned a random plant, which we were to get to know very well over the course of the semester. My plant was the Celandine (Schöllkraut/ lat. Chelidonium).
Celandine unfolds its uniqueness above all in the medical field. The real hero of this plant is the inner sap, which is mainly found in the stem. This is used to combat warts. The herb is characterized by its widespread presence due to the broad leaf canopy.

The goal of the work is to initiate a dialog on how we can develop more mindfulness towards our biological environment in order to promote an improved human-nature relationship. It also aims to support the use of natural medicine in the home environment.
This approach is implemented through a narrative that describes a "small, shy person with hidden power". This metaphor carries over to the design elements such as colour choice and tonality, which are characterized as "hidden and changeable". Thus there is a clear difference between the outer, calm and orderly green coat and the inner, charged, glowing yellow one.

Specifically, this is a packaging design that integrates the unique properties of celandine into the discovery process. For example, the presence of the leaf canopy is translated through the calm, opaque color of the outer packaging and the circular cut-outs not only serve to embellish the packaging, but also indicate the cut stem of the plant.
